I am ready to dive back in!

The world of communication has certainly changed since I started as a part-time journalist while still in college, dwelling in the basement where all of our student publications were housed at Marquette University, and hustling to catch Milwaukee city buses to cover school board meetings in nearby Shorewood. Design had gone online shortly after I got to the professional world, and I got into online communications by the late 1990s when I helped John Deere Parts Distribution North America with the creation of its employee intranet. In the interim, I reported on just about everything.

Several years after being at Deere, I had my first child, and it would have broken my heart to go back to work. My second child came seven years later. Same story. I kept doing freelance writing until I started working part-time again in 2017. That is when I realized I needed to update my skills. I enrolled in a remote master’s program in January 2020, caught up on new technology, and I will graduate in May 2024.

I have a sweet part-time professional job now, but I am starting to feel ready for the challenge of full-time work, onsite or hybrid. My brother and sister are talking about retirement. Not me! I am ready to dive back in and make new contributions.

I love good food, good company, discussing books and current events. I also enjoy music, dancing, the outdoors, and having a good laugh. I find professional joy in helping people find solutions and promoting great organizations and communities. If you employ me, you have me for the long haul.
